Crystal Palace want to sign Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud in the January transfer window.
The French international is frustrated over his lack of game time at Chelsea, with Tammy Abraham’s fine start to the season meaning that Giroud has only started one Premier League fixture this campaign, the home match with Leicester City back in August.
He recently expressed his dissatisfaction over his position at the West London club whilst on international duty with France, for whom he scored in matches against Iceland and Turkey.
And now comes news that Crystal Palace are considering making a move for him as they look to boost their striking options.
Giroud is concerned for his international prospects, and fear that his lack of first-team opportunities could impact his chances of appearing in the European Championship finals next summer.
Giroud’s manager at Chelsea Frank Lampard appreciates Giroud’s frustration but wants to keep him at the club saying “At the moment, because of how Tammy is playing, there hasn’t been the minutes, so I would happily sit down with Oli in January. But that is a long way away. I want him here.”
