Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was accused in court by a football agent of taking money as part of transfer deals.
The Scot was also accused of giving the gift of a £30,000 Rolex watch to help fix the result of a Manchester United match.
The claims were made by 64 year old football agent Giuseppi “Pino” Pagliari at Southwark Crown Court, where he is on trial for paying and facilitating a bribe, charges which he strenuously denies.
Pagliari also said made allegations about former manager Harry Redknapp, and ex-Chelsea boss Antonio Conté, now in charge of Inter Milan. More generally, he compared many football managers to second-hand car salesmen, and claimed he had opened foreign bank accounts for many of them.
According to Pagliari the game in question was a Champions League fixture between United and Juventus, a club with which the Italian was associated with at the time.
