Arsenal have been impressed by their new summer signing, teenage centre-half William Saliba.
The 18-year old joined Arsenal from French club St. Etienne in the summer, but, under the terms of the deal, was immediately loaned back to the Ligue 1 side for this season.
However, his new club got an early chance to work with him when he picked up a hamstring injury in pre-season, which forced him to miss the first seven matches of the season. Saliba, with the blessing of St. Etienne, spent part of his recovery period at Arsenal’s training facility at London Colney, where his physical stamina and prowess impressed the fitness coaches with whom he worked, although his groin strength needs improvement.
However, he did enough during his time in Hertfordshire to convince Arsenal that he will be ready to challenge for a first team place next season.
