Having persuaded David de Gea and Victor Lindelof to sign new deals with the club, Manchester United are no turning their attention to three other members of their squad who they want to tie down for the future – Jesse Lingard, Mason Greenwood, and Paul Pogba.
The de Gea and Lindelof deals came hard on the heels of similar contract extensions agreed over the summer for Marucs Rashford and Scott McTominay, and continues United’s policy of trying to tie down their biggest assets to long stays at the club.
However, whilst the deals for Lingard and Greenwood should be relatively easy to get over the line, agreeing a new contract with Pogba is likely to present a much greater challenge.
The Frenchman was widely linked with a move to Real Madrid in the summer, after indicating that he was ready for s fresh challenge, and the rumours persist that he wants to leave the club, although he is under contract at Old Trafford until 2021, with United having the option to extend that by a further year.
