The transfer speculation linking Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen with a move away from Tottenham will not go away.
No sooner had Spurs’ fans breathed a sigh of relief that the European transfer window closed without anybody succeeding in prising the 27 year old away from White Hart Lane, when there has been a new outbreak of rumours, linking him with a January transfer.
Manchester United are the latest club to plot a move for Eriksen, after Real Madrid failed in attempts to lure the Dane to La Liga.
Eriksen has made no secret of his desire to quit Tottenham in search of a new challenge, and has steadfastly refused to sit down with the club and discuss their offer of a new contract for him worth £200,000 a week.
And with the player out of contract at the club next summer, Tottenham will face a very difficult dilemma in January if the player does not change his mind. Rob the team of one of its most creative elements, but realise some sort of transfer fee, or allow him to walk away for nothing at the end of the season.
