Reports that former Celtic man Victor Wanyama was going to return to Parkhead on loan from Tottenham turned out to be spurious.
The 28 year old Kenyan international, out of favour at White Hart Lane, was set for a move to Belgium, with Club Brugge have agreed a £13 million fee for him. Wanyama though was not convinced about the merits of switching to the Jupiler League, sending the rumour mill into overdrive about a return to the club that he joined from another Belgian side Beerschot, in 2013.
He played in Scotland for two seasons, winning the league twice and the Scottish Cup once, before sealing a £12.5 move to Southampton, eventually joining in 2016.
Now though he will be staying at Spurs for the time being, though how many first-team opportunities he is likely to get under Mauricio Pochettino this season are likely to be severely limited, given the competition for places in midfield at White Hart Lane.
