Tiemoué Bakayoko is set for a return to former club Monaco.
The 25-year old only joined Chelsea from the Ligue 1 side two years ago, but endured a torride time in his first season at Stamford Bridge, and was sent on Serie A side AC Milan.
He made 42 appearances for Milan last season but the Rossoneri decided not to take up the option to buy, and he returned to Stamford Bridge this summer.
New Chelsea manager Frank Lampard initially had an open mind about keeping Bakayoko but, having watched him in pre-season, decided that the midfielder was not part of his long-term plans.
Now he looks like he is heading back to Monaco on loan for the season, although the Ligue 1 side will have an option to buy him at the end of the current campaign for £31.8 million.
Monaco have made a poor start to their season and are in dire need of reinforcements. They have secured just one point from their three games so far, and face a difficult away trip to Strasbourg on Sunday.
