Elneny linked with Bordeaux switch

Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has been linked with a move to Ligue 1 side Bordeaux on loan before the European transfer window closes.

The 27-year old is out of favour at the Emirates, with manager Unai Emery telling both him and Shkodran Mustafi that it would be better for both of them to find new clubs. He made just five Premier League starts last season, and has failed to make the squad for any of Arsenal’s three matches so far this campaign.

Now, it looks like Bordeaux may be willing to take the Egyptian international, who joined the Gunners from Swiss side Basel in January 2016. He has since gone on to make 89 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring twice.

If he does move to Bordeaux he will be in line for a reunion with former colleague and club captain Laurent Koscielny, who secured his own move to the French side earlier this move, although Elneny’s transfer will be considerably less acrimonious.
