Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi wants to stay at Chelsea and fight for his place under Frank Lampard.
The 26-year old moved to Chelsea in a £33 million deal from Marseille, but has never been a first-team regular at Stamford Bridge, and has been loaned out three times, to Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and, in the second half of last season, to Crystal Palace.
He had been linked with a move away from the club, either on another loan deal or permanently, with the European transfer windows about to shut, but now he has decided to stay put for the time being, although he could re-evaluate that decision in January.
He did his cause no harm at all on Monday night, scoring twice for Chelsea’s under-23 side, in front of the watching Lampard, as they beat Liverpool 3 – 0 at Stamford Bridge.
