Manchester United want to extend the contract of Ivory Coast international Eric Baily.
The 2016 £26 million capture from Spanish side Villarreal has endured a terrible time with injuries since moving to Old Trafford, and is once again sidelined, after the medial knee ligament injury he picked up in a pre-season warm-up game ruled him out of action until next January.
Despite this, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still has faith in the player, and believes he can come good in the end with United. Bailly’s current deal at Old Trafford runs out next summer, but is believed to contain a clause that allows them to extend his stay by up to two years.
United do not want him to leave on a free transfer at the end of the current season, with the 25 year old allowed to talk to other clubs in Europe in January when the transfer window opens again.
