Mauricio Pochettino has dropped a hint that Christian Eriksen could still leave the club before the European transfer window shuts.
The Danish playmaker has been linked away with a move away from White Hart Lane all summer, after admitting that he would like to try a different challenge elsewhere. He was left out of the starting eleven for the first match of the season against Aston Villa last week but, when he was introduced from the bench, helped turned the match around as Spurs overcame a goal deficit to win 3 – 1.
Tottenham want desperately to keep him and have offered the 27 year old a new contract worth £200,000. However, Eriksen has, so far, refused to enter into negotiations, and, with just a year left ono his contract, Tottenham are in a difficult position. Sell him now or let him walk away for free next summer.
Pochettino confirmed that his squad was not settled when, speaking ahead of the game with Manchester City he said “We need to assess the circumstances. We will see what happens between now and September 2. Like we can change our minds, a player can change his, so until September 2 it is difficult to tell you if this will be the bravest group of players.
