Midfielder Tiemoué Bakayoko is set to return to Monaco on loan, the club from whom he moved to Chelsea in a £35 million transfer two years ago, after the Ligue 1 club began talks with representatives from the London side.
The 24-year old Frenchman spent last season on loan with AC Milan but, despite making 42 appearances in all competitions for the Rossoneri, the Serie A side opted not to exercise their option to buy him perfectly, and he returned to Chelsea.
Now with Frank Lampard restricted to having a maximum of 17 overseas players in his Premier League squad, Bakayoko finds himself surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, with better alternatives available to the new Chelsea boss ahead of him in midfield.
Bakayoko, who endured a difficult first season in West London before his move to Italy played just 185 minutes during Chelsea’s pre-season programme.
