The sudden and dramatic switch of defender David Luiz from Chelsea to Arsenal has not gone down well with some sections of his former club’s fan base.
Luiz made the move after he became concerned about his lack of first-team prospects under Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge for the coming season.
However, it is fair to say that his move has not met with universal acclaim in West London, with some fans venting their fury by deluging Babbo, the Italian restaurant that Luiz owns in fashionable Mayfair in London, with one star reviews. Others expressed their anger at the club for allowing Luiz to leave, especially given that the reported fee of £8 million is just a fraction of the £32 million they paid in 2016 to buy him back from PSG.
One Chelsea fan was so incensed that he was seen punching the mural of Luiz depicted outside Stamford Bridge.
