Derby County are winning the race to sign Arsenal’s Krystian Bielik.
The versatile Pole who can play in either defensive or midfield has been attracting a lot of attention this summer from clubs in England and Italy after starring for his country in the European under-21 Championship, scoring a couple of goals in the process.
He also impressed on loan with Charlton Athletic last season, helping the South East London club gain promotion to the EFL Championship via the play-offs.
Unfortunately he has failed to catch the eye in the same way with his parent club, in part due to suffering several lengthy shoulder problems since moving to Arsenal from Legia Warsaw in January 2016.
Despite a substantial minority of the fan base urging Unai Emery to give Bielik a chance at the Emirates, he was not included in the club’s pre-season plan, and with the 21-year old making it clear that he wanted first team football next season, it looks like a sale is the best option for all parties.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
