New Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is ready to sell Tiemoué Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater.
When he joined the club Lampard promised to give every player a chance, including those who had been on loan or were languishing in the reserves under former boss Maurizio Sarri.
However, having run the rule over all the players in his squad during the club’s pre-season tour, he has now decided that neither player fits into his long-term plans at the club.
Bakayoko, who spent last season on loan with AC Milan, has been linked with a move to Everton, who regard him as a potential replacement for Idrissa Gueye who is expected to sign for PSG before the end of the week.
Drinkwater, who was one of the stars of the Leicester team that pulled off a surprise Premier League win three years ago, has had a torrid time since moving top Chelsea, making just 23 appearances for the club in all competitions.
Both players were in the starting line-up for Chelsea’s entertaining 4 – 3 friendly win at Reading on Sunday.
