Manchester United have issued a warning to Inter Milan that time is running out if they wish to sign Romelu Lukaku.
That is because with the English transfer deadline expiring in 8th August, United will want to replace the Belgian striker if he is sold and need to identify and line-up suitable candidates.
Inter made an initial bid of £45 million plus add-ons rejected for the 26 year old over the weekend, but that was immediately rejected by United as falling considerably short of their own valuation of the player. United would like to recoup the £75 million that they paid Everton for the forward in July two years ago.
Now Inter are mulling over whether to make an improved offer for Lukaku, with United warning them that there is a cut-off time, after which United are not prepared to discuss the matter further. They are said to have several transfer targets in mind if Lukaku is sold.
