Spurs are close to agreeing a deal to sign Argentine midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, after Real Betis dropped their asking price for the 23 year old.
Tottenham had been negotiating with the La Liga side for weeks but talks were put on hold after Betis demanded £60 million for the player. However, After Betis signed a ready-made replacement in the shape of Nabil Fekir from Lyon – who almost joined Liverpool last summer – they dropped the asking price to £45 million.
Initially loaned by PSG to the Spanish club last season, he scored 15 times before Betis exercised an option to make the move permanent. However, as part of that agreement, PSG are entitled to 20% of the fee. Meanwhile, Argentine side, Rosario, will also receive 3% from the sale, having sold Lo Celso to PSG originally in 2016.
Lo Celso was used as a false number nine last season, but his preferred position is central midfield.
