Toby Alderweireld expects to be a Tottenham player next season, despite the possibility of a late bid coming in for him.
When Spurs activated an extension of his contract last season, they activated a clause that stated that, if any club made a bid of £25 million for the Belgian central defender by a certain date, then Tottenham must sanction his sale.
That deadline expires this Thursday, and with no credible suitors having made themselves known, it looks like he will be staying at White Hart Lane. Manchester United were linked with him previously, but are currently focused on Harry Maguirre, whilst Roma are said to have made enquiries, but would struggle to meet his release clause.
Tottenham meanwhile want him to stay, and Mauricio Pochettino demonstrated his faith in the player by making him captain in their friendly win over Juventus in Singapore on Sunday, with Hugo Lloris absent with tonsillitis.
