Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he is in no hurry to extend his current contract with Liverpool beyond 2022 – at least for the moment.
The 52 year old German is a hugely popular figure on Merseyside, having delivered Champions League success, and missing out on the League to Manchester City by the barest of margins, and the club’s hierarchy and supporters would like to see him tied down to a longer deal.
However, the 52 year old is unwilling to commit himself to an extension at this stage, mindful of not out-staying his welcome at the club, and, at the same time, wanting to keep his options open to see what other opportunities are available nearer the time.
At the same time he is determined to see out his current contract, and has not ruled out the possibility to agree to a longer stay at Anfield in the future.
Klopp said : “I have three years. It is all good. The age group of the boys is good, my age is good for what I have to do. It’s strange that we talk about it three years before.’
