Arsenal close to signing Brazilian

Arsenal are close to agreeing a deal to sign Brazilian winger Everton Sores for £36 million.

The 23-year old came to prominence during Brazil’s recent triumph in the Copa América, and now he is set to confirm to join the Gunners in a surprise move.

Unai Emery has been in the market for a winger all summer, and has turned his attention to Everton after being priced out of a move for Wilfried Zaha, with Crystal Palace demanding £80 million for the Ivorian forward.

Everton revealed earlier this week that he had received an offer from an unnamed club, with unconfirmed reports that Arsenal have sent a club doctor to Brazil to conduct a medical on the player. Meanwhile, the player’s wife has done nothing to dampen down the speculation by revealing that he is starting to learn English.

If Everton is to move to Arsenal, the role of Edu, the club’s new Technical Director cannot be underplayed in the transfer. He knows him well from his time with the Brazil national squad where he was General Manager, only leaving after the Copa América final.
