England full-back Danny Rose has been left out of Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Asia, the clearest sign yet that he is about to leave the club.
Rather than travel to Singapore with the rest of the squad, Rose has been left behind in London with a view to being sold, although no buyer has yet been identified for him. Rose, who has two years left on his current deal, has been available for transfer since last season, and, with Ben Davies having recently signed a new five year contract with the club, now may be the time for the 29-year old to end his 12-year stay in North London.
The player himself, who is valued at £25 million, would prefer to move back north, although it is difficult to see which clubs of stature need him at this stage. Both Manchester United and City are covered in the left-back position, and Everton have Lucas Digne who has been a success since signing from Barcelona.
