Liverpool have sought to dampen down speculation linking Sadio Mané with a move to Real Madrid, insisting that they have had no contact with the Spanish giants about the 27 year old.
Mané had an outstanding season for Liverpool last season, not only helping them to Champions League success, but also claiming a share of the Golden Boot award for Premier League top scorer with team mate Mo Salah, and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
He is currently in Egypt with Senegal for the African Cup of Nations, and it is the head of his country’s FA, Saer Seck, who has ignited the latest rumours, saying that if Real are interested in him he should be thinking of that offer seriously”.
The striker joined Liverpool from Southampton for £34 million in June 2016, and has since gone on to score 59 goals in 123 appearances for them. He is under contract at Anfield until 2012, having signed a new contract in November of last year.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
