Manchester United have lodged a bid of £45 million for Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenković.
That is according to The Daily Mirror who report that the offer is parallel not an alternative, to their pursuit of Leicester City and England defender Harry Maguirre, who remains their top summer transfer target.
The 21-year old Serbian international; joined Fiorentina from Partizan Belgrade in the summer of 2017, and has since gone on to make 53 appearances for the Serie A side, making 53 appearances in all competitions for them, scoring three times. Standing at 6 foot 5 inches tall, he is the type of commanding figure that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking for to help shore up United’s porous defence.
This is not the first time that United have tried to buy him. They submitted a £36 million offer for him in January which was rejected, but have now gone back with an improved bid.
