New Chelsea manager has identified securing the future of Callum Hudson-Odoi at the club as one of his most important first priorities.
The 18-year old is out of contract next summer, and has already been subject to a number of failed bids from Bayern Munich, as he continues to be wanted by clubs across Europe and the Premier League.
Failure to play Hudson-Odoi regularly in the first-team, who is already a full England international, was one of the reasons that previous manager Maurizio Sarri alienated such a large proportion of the Chelsea fan base last season, despite the side’s relative success on the pitch.
Lampard believes that the teenager could be an important player for the club for years to come, and wants to sit down with the player and explain his vision to him I order to convince the winger to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
Knowing that he has other options though, Hudson-Odoi who is currently recovering from an Achilles injury is not likely to make a decision until he is back in the first team when the season starts.
