Danny Drinkwater, one of the forgotten men at Stamford Bridge could be offered a chance to revive his career at Stamford Bridge until new manager Frank Lampard.
Drinkwater, who joined Chelsea from Leicester City two years ago in a £35 million deal has endured a torrid time in West London, making only 23 appearances for the club. He was completely frozen out under the previous regime of Maurizio Sarri, appearing only in the Community Shield pre-season game. The Italian told the England international he was not part of his plans, and did not even include him in his Europa League squad.
And to compound matters, Drinkwater was found guilty of drunk driving after a high profile accident.
However, now it looks like he could be ready to get his career back on chance, with Lampard ready to offer fringe players the chance to prove themselves, with the new manager insisting that all members of his squad start with a clean slate.
Proof of that came on Friday with Drinkwater included in the squad that flew to Dublin for the first leg of their pre-season tour.
