Inter Milan are struggling to raise the money to meet Manchester United’s £75 million valuation for Romelu Lukaku.
That has left the Belgian striker in a difficult position. United have made it clear that they want to sell him, but Inter are the only team that have expressed an interest in signing the 26-year old. That means that Lukaku, despite all the speculation, is set to join United’s pre-season tour to Australia, with the club flying out on Monday to play matches against Perth Glory and Manchester United.
There has been talk in the Italian Press that Juventus want to buy Inter forward Mauro Icardi which would release a large amount of cash to help finance the Lukaku deal, but there is no sign that any agreement for the Argentine striker is imminent.
Now with both the player and the club on the other side of the world, further negotiations between United and Inter may have to wait until July 20th, when the two clubs meet in a pre-season friendly in Shanghai.
