Midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is on the verge of signing a new contract with Chelsea, after agreeing a deal worth £150,000 a week.
The England midfielder is currently sidelined with the ruptured Achilles tendon injury he picked-up in the post-season friendly with New England Revolution, which ruled him out of the Europa League final, with fears, that he may not play again this calendar year.
Despite that, the club have every faith in the 23-year old, who had become an integral part of the team prior to his injury, and have rewarded him with the new deal, despite him having two years left on his current deal. He has also earned a hefty pay rise, with his weekly salary set to rocket from the £60,000 a week that he currently earns.
The news is more good news for Chelsea fans, with the arrival of Frank Lampard as manager imminent, after his present club announced Derby County announced that they have already identified his successor in the shape of former Dutch international Phillip Cocu.
