Manchester United want to sign Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified the 24 year old Scot as the man needed to inject pace and dynamism into the United midfield. Aston Villa though are in no mood to sell McGinn as they prepare for life back in the Premier League, and are set to demand £50 million for a player that they bought for less than £3 million from Hibs less than a year ago.
The Glasgow-born midfielder, who began his career with St. Mirren, made an immediate impression in his first campaign at Villa Park, earning both the players’ player, and fans’ player of the season awards. He also scored a vital goal in the Championship play-off win over Derby County which helped seal their promotion back to the top flight.
So determined are Villa to keep the player that they have opened talks with him on a new long-term deal, despite having three years on his current contract to run.
