Manchester United’s hunt for centre-back reinforcements goes on, and they have now turned their attention to Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti.
The 25 year old French international, who won the World Cup with his country last year, has previously been linked with United, and now they have reignited their interest in signing him.
The player has stated that he does not want to leave the Nou Camp, and that he is prepared to fight for his place, despite losing his first-team spot last season to compatriot Clément Lenglet last season.
Barcelona have also stated publicly that the player is not for sale. However, according to Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, some at the club have doubts about Umtiti’s physical condition. He suffered from ongoing knee problems last season, and opted against having surgery to correct them. Despite their protestations to the contrary, Barcelona may be willing to sell him if the price is right.
