Manchester United are no longer interested in signing Leicester City and England centre-back Harry Maguirre.
That is after the Foxes demanded £90 million initially for Maguirre, plus an additional £10 million in add-ons, which is considerably in excess of the £60 million valuation that United have put on the 26-year old.
With United out of the running, it now appears that neighbours Manchester City are the only club in the running to sign Maguirre, as they look for a replacement for Vincent Kompany, who has moved to Anderlecht as player manager. However, it remains questionable If even they are prepared to match Leicester’s price for the player.
That means that United’s hunt for a commanding centre-back goes on, having previously had a bid for Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly turned down.
However, there is good news on another of their defensive targets. Crystal Palace full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has passed the first part of his medical in advance of his £50 million move to Old Trafford, and the club hope to announce his arrival soon.
