Barcelona have made enquiries to Manchester United about the availability of Swedish central defender, Victor Lindelof.
The Catalans have been pursuing Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt, but, despite being favourites to sign him for months, they now look likely to miss out with the young Dutchman indicating that he wants to join Juventus instead. They are now casting about for a replacement, and have alighted upon Lindelof as a possible solution for their need for reinforcements in central defence.
Lindelof has been on Barcelona’s radar since his time at Benfica, and impressed manager Ernesto Valverde in the course of the clubs two meetings in the Champions League last season.
Manchester United do not want to sell Lindelof who, after a difficult first season at Old Trafford, established himself at the heart of the defence in his second campaign in England. However, the Spanish champions are not deterred, and believe they can attract the Swede to Catalonia with the prospect of Champions League football next season.
