West Bromwich Albion are interested in making a move for Arsenal full-back Carl Jenkinson, wo is keen to play regular first-team football, after only making 8 appearances for the Gunners last season. If he does move, it will mean a reunion with his former team mate Kieran Gibbs who made the move to the Hawthorns two years ago.
27-year old Jenkinson is the last surviving member of the “British core” of players that all signed new contracts at the Emirates in December 2012, and were meant to be the future of the club under Arsène Wenger. Injuries meant that the group, which also comprised Gibbs, Aaron Ramsey, Alec Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Jack Wilshere, never got to fill their potential, and they have all moved on to other clubs.
A self-confessed Arsenal fan, the man known as “The Corporal” will be hoping to kick start his career with the Championship side, knowing that he does not figure in Unai Emery’s long-term plans.
