Marcus Rashford wants £300,000 a week to stay at Old Trafford.
His wage demands are causing consternation at Old Trafford who are desperate to tie down the England striker to a new deal as they face the prospect of losing both David de Gea and Paul Pogba this summer.
However, United face themselves in a difficult position, having allowed Rashford’ contract to run down, so that he is within a year of being able to leave as a free agent. They know that the 21-year old is much in demand, with Barcelona reputed to be amongst his admirers, and that other clubs are likely to be able to pay him the sort of money he is wanting.
That probably explains the slew of stories that have been leaked to the press, pointing out that Sergio Ramos scored more goals for his club Real Madrid last season, than the 10 Premier League goals that Rashford managed in the campaign just ended, with United trying to dampen down Rashford’s demands.
However, given that Alexis Sanchez is on more than £450,000 a week at United, Rashford is entitled to point out that he contributes far more at Old Trafford than the Chilean international.
