Willian is on the verge of signing a new two-year deal at Chelsea.
The 30-year old Brazilian was widely expected to follow Eden Hazard out of the exit door at Stamford Bridge, with Barcelona amongst the clubs with which he has been linked. However, there has been a change of mind, and now he is expected to extend his stay at Chelsea for a further two years.
This follows a change in transfer policy at Chelsea forced upon them by the impending two window transfer ban. Previously they held a firm line, and would only offer players over 30 a one-year deal when it came to contract renewals. However, facing the likelihood of not being able to bring in any new players for two windows, they have had to relax those guidelines. David Luiz was recently handed a two year extension, and now fellow Brazilian Willian is set to receive the same treatment.
