Rio Ferdinand has revealed that he is open to the idea pf becoming technical director at Manchester United.
New manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has indicated he is willing to work alongside a Technical Director, and Ferdinand, and former United team mate Darren Fletcher, have both had discussions with club officials about the role.
The news comes as Ferdinand has just been announced by the Football Association at lead ambassador for Euro 2020, tickets for which went on sale on Wednesday, a decision that the former England international described as an “honour”.
Unlike previous tournaments, next year’s Euros will not have one host country. Instead 12 European countries will host Group games, including England, with Wembley hosting not only 3 group games, a last 16 tie, both semi-finals and the final itself, on 12th July next year.
He also made clear that taking on any role with United would depend on the shape of the job, and that the responsibilities would need to be clearly detailed.
