Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco is odds-on favourite to join Arsenal.
That is according to the bookmakers who have him 1/10 on to become Unai Emery’s first signing of the summer.
The former Atlético Madrid and Monaco winger is currently playing in China for Dalian Yifang, the club that he joined in a surprise move in February last year. However, he has made no secret of his desire to return to Europe, and was linked with a loan move back to Arsenal in the last transfer window. That fell through, and Arsenal took Denis Suárez from Barcelona instead, a move that back-fired as the Spaniard made just a smattering of appearances for Arsenal, all from the substitute’s bench.
However, Emery has maintained his interested in the wide man, and the Belgian has dropped some heavy hints over his future by saying “There is now an offer on the table, and the negotiations with my agent are progressing well.
All the people know England is one of the best championships in the world, it’s a big competition.”
Oblak began his youth career in Belgium football, before joining Monaco’s B side and progressing through to their senior team. He made 81 appearances for the Ligue 1 side before securing a £17 million switch to Atlético in July 2015.
He has played 31 times for the Belgian national side, and scored 5 goals for them.
