The 27-year old match the switch to Liverpool from Stoke City last summer in a £13.5 million deal but had to be content with a squad position last season, making 24 Premier League appearances, many of them from the substitutes’ bench. He was also an unused sub in the club’s Champions League triumph over Tottenham on Saturday night in Madrid.
That had provoked speculation that he would look to leave the club this summer, but now Shaqiri has reiterated his desire to stay and to fight for his place next season under Jurgen Klopp, as he wants to be part of a team that wins the Champions League.
Shaqiri’s season is not over yet. He will now hook-up with the Swiss club as they prepare for the Nations League finals in Portugal this week.
He said “That’s my big dream, to win the Premier League with this club”.
