Arsenal are reported to have made contact with Youssef En-Nesyri, a Moroccan international striker currently playing with Leganés in La Liga.
The 22-year old scored 11 goals in 34 League games last season for the Madrid-based club, helping them to a 13th place La Liga finish.
Press reports suggest that En-Nesyri, who transferred to Leganés from Malaga last summer, is also interesting the Bundesliga duo of Borussia Dortmund and Schalke, and could be made available for a fee of around €10 million.
Whilst some may be surprised by the news given that strengthening the defence is regarded as the priority at the Emirates this summer, there is the need for back-up to Alexander Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, given that Danny Welbeck is set to leave the club.
And his price tag suits the reported limited transfer budget that Arsenal are reported to have available after failing to qualify for the Champions League next season.
