Premier League heavyweights are set to battle to sign Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir.
The French international was on the verge of joining Liverpool last summer, but the deal collapsed at the last minute due to medical concerns, and he stayed with the Ligue 1 side for a further season.
However, he is now set to leave the club this summer, which has reignited the interest of the newly-crowned Champions League winners as to his availability. They will face a familiar foe in their bid to sign him with Manchester City also ready to table a bid.
City are at risk of losing both Leroy Sané and Ilkay Gundogan, but, although a defensive midfielder is top of Pep Guardiola’s shopping list, he is fully aware of Fekir’s ability.
Lyon are hoping that the two clubs will start a bidding war for the 25-year old, although Liverpool are hoping to pay less than the £53 million they offered last year because of Fekir’s ongoing knee problems.
