Unai Emery is ready to sell Mesut Ozil in a bid to reduce the club’s wage bill.
Ozil signed a five year contract last January for a salary of £350,000 a week which has become an issue for the club which is trying to overhaul its squad on a limited budget.
Petr Cech, Aaron Ramsey and Danny Welbeck are all departing the Emirates this summer, but Ozil’s salary remains an outlier, and if there is a willing buyer, then the club are willing to let the German leave, although there will be no effort to actively force him out of the club.
That is according to The Evening Standard who reports that Inter Milan have been linked with Ozil in the past but that Arsenal may have to subsidise part of his wages if he is going to move to the Serie A side.
Ozil has also been linked with a move to China, but is unwilling to play in what he perceives as an inferior league at this stage of his career.

He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
