Arsenal are set to cast their net wider in search of bargain buys as they look to fund a summer rebuild without the safety net of money from the Champions League.
Wednesday’s defeat to Chelsea in the Europa League final mean they have missed out on the funds that playing in Europe’s elite competition would have brought them for next season, and with Unai Emery’s transfer budget limited this summer, creative solutions are required if the necessary squad rebuild is to be carried out effectively.
That is why the club are now being linkedwith Nahitan Nandez and Emanuel Reynoso, who play for Boca Juniors in Argentina, as well as Exequiel Palacios who plays for their Buenos Aires rivals River Plate.
Nandez is a Uruguayan international who has previously been linked with Leicester City, whilst Palacios is already an Argentine international, although he is only 20, and has been connected with a move to Real Madrid in the past.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
