Arsenal have targeted the signing of RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano, as the look to overhaul their side this summer.
The defence has been the weakest part of Unai Enery’s side this season, and their shortcomings were brutally exposed in Wednesday night’s UEFA Cup Final when Eden Hazard helped ripped them to shreds in the second half, inflicting an embarrassing 4 – 1 defeat on them.
Shkodran Mustafi, Nacho Monreal and captain Laurent Koscielny have all been linked with moves away from the club this summer, and Upamecano has been identified as a potential upgrade on what Emery currently has at his disposal.
The 20-year old Frenchman was part of the meanest defence in the Bundesliga last season, and Leipzig would like to extend his stay with them. However, they are aware of the interest from Arsenal, and may consider selling him if the player expresses a desire to make the move.
