Liverpool transfer target Memphis Depay has apparently confirmed that he is leaving French club Lyon, in a slightly unconventional way.
The Dutch international published a video on his Instagram account on Saturday showing him dressed all in red boarding a private plane with the caption “Merci Lyon” (Thank you Lyon).
The 25-year old spent two seasons in the Premier League with Manchester United, but failed to make the grade at Old Trafford, and departed for Lyon in the summer of 2017. He has since rehabilitated his career in Ligue 1, and now appears ready to move on again, if his social media posting is to be believed.
Liverpool have sent scouts to watch him recently, and were in the stands to watch him play against Marseille two weeks ago. Jurgen Klopp wants to bring in another forward this summer to complement and add an element of competition for the established strike force of Mo Salah, Sadio Mané, and Roberto Firmino.
