Everton are the favourites to sign Danny Welbeck on a free transfer this summer.
The 28-year old is set to leave Arsenal this summer after the club decided against offering him a new deal, announcing the decision after the final home match of the season against Brighton.
After a long lay-off with injury, Welbeck is back in full training with Arsenal ahead of their Europa League final and bagged a hat-trick in a practice match played behind closed doors earlier this week.
Despite interest from abroad, Welbeck’s preference is to stay in the Premier League, and West Ham, Crystal Palace and Wolves are just some of the clubs interested in signing him.
However, Everton have now established themselves as the favourites to sign him, and are thought to be willing to pay him more than the £100,000 a week that he currently earns.
As The Evening Standard reports, Everton are likely to insist on a rigorous medical, given Welbeck’s injury history.
