Adam Lallana wants to return to his former club Southampton.
The 31 year old Liverpool and England midfielder has found himself relegated to the role of bit-part player at Anfield after a series of hamstring and groin injuries have caused him to spend much of the past two seasons on the treatment table.
That restricted him to just 16 appearances last season, and 13 in the campaign before, mainly from the substitute’s bench. He is contracted at Liverpool until 2022 but with little apparent future at the club, The Express reports that Jurgen Klopp might be tempted to cash in on the player this summer, as he looks to reshuffle his squad ahead of another title challenge next season.
Southampton are said to be aware of Lallana’s situation and are monitoring developments, although they do have some concerns about his recent injury record.
Lallana began his career as a youth at Southampton and graduated through to the senior side before his £25 million move to Liverpool in 2014.
