Henrikh Mkhitaryan may have played his last Arsenal game

Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan may have played his last game in an Arsenal shirt.

That is following news that he is set to be left out of the squad for the Europa League final and will not travel with the team to Baku because of safety concerns.

A long-running dispute between Azerbaijan and Armenia over the disputed territory of Nagarno-Karabakh means that there are considerable tensions between the two countries, and Arsenal have been trying to ensure that Mkhitaryan, who is captain of his national side, and once visited the region some time ago, will be adequately protected during his time in Baku.

However, it now looks like he will be left at home because his presence will be an unwelcome distraction for the team as they prepare for their most important match of the season.

It is widely expected that Mkhitaryan will be one of the players that Unai Emery will try and sell in the summer, which means that his appearance in the win at Burnley on the last day of the season may have been his last for the club.
