Frank Lampard is set to replace Maurizio Sarri as manager of Chelsea this summer.
This is according to reports that suggest that Sarri will be sacked after the Europa League final, irrespective of the result, with former player and fan favourite Lampard set to take over from him at the Stamford Bridge helm.
Sarri has had a turbulent first season in charge of Chelsea. He steered them to a third place finish and Champions League football again next season, and two cup finals, but, he has alienated fans with his team selections and tactics, whilst his behaviour on the touchline has been erratic, and temperamental.
Lampard’s stock as a manager has risen in the season he has been in charge of Derby County, and he has now steered them to the Championship play-off final against Aston Villa at Wembley, after they came from behind to beat Leeds United on Wednesday night.

He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
