Leicester City have joined Arsenal in the hunt for Rennes star Ismaila Sarr.
The 21-year old impressed Gunners boss Unai Emery when the two sides met in the Europa League in March, with reports suggesting that Arsenal made contact with Rennes about the player’s availability after that tie.
Sarr is likely to be a man in demand this summer. Under contract at Rennes until 2021, he has had an impressive season scoring 12 times and providing 11 assists in the league. He also netted the decisive penalty that handed Rennes a shock French Cup final win over PSG.
Now Leicester have also expressed an interest in signing the Senegalese winger, who Rennes signed from Metz in 2017, and who is likely to cost around £25 million.
Nor is the interest in him confined to the Premier League. Roma and AC Milan are also said to be closely monitoring his situation.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
