Koulibaly tops Manchester United wish list

Napoli centre-half Kalidou Koulibaly tops Manchester United’s wish list when it comes to their summer transfer targets.

The 27-year old Senegalese international is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the world, and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to bring him to Old Trafford as he looks to overhaul the United squad after a disappointing season at Old Trafford was brought to an end on Sunday with already relegated Cardiff City winning there for the first time since 1954.

However, to secure the services of Koulibaly, as The Daily Mirror reports, Manchester United may need to pay heavily for him, with a figure close to the world record amount of £75 million for a defender that Liverpool had to pay Southampton when they bought Virgil van Dyck.

Solskjaer has identified centre half and right back as areas where he most needs to strengthen, but is also looking to bring in reinforcements in midfield and attack.

Although, Solskjaer would have to strengthen the midfield as Ander Herrera has already made his exit while Paul Pogba could be also on his way out. Not only the fans, but also the ex-players of the 20-time English champions are divided on this issue. Former United legend Patrice Evra has supported his compatriot and has urged the fans to show Pogba more love while Jesper Olsen stated that Pogba can leave for Madrid as no one is bigger than the club.
