Champions League hero to leave Spurs in the summer

Striker Fernando Llorente is set to leave Spurs in the summer on a free transfer, despite his Champions League heroics.

The 34-year old Spaniard is out of contract at White Hart Lane, and the club are not interested in offering him a new deal, but will instead look to the transfer market to find a back-up for Harry Kane.

Usually a bit part player for Spurs, Llorente has thrust himself into the spotlight in the last few weeks in  the absence of the injured Kane. Firstly, he bundled in the goal against Manchester City that effectively clinched their Champions League quarter-final, and then, introduced off the bench at half-time in Amsterdam, he helped create the space and the chances for Lucas Moura to net his second-half hat-trick.

According to The Sun Napoli are one of the clubs interested in signing Llorente who joined Spurs from Swansea City in a £12 million deal in 2017.
